Ottawa Executive Portraits

Photographing business executives is one of the mainstays of our studio. We operate the largest studio in the city with a 4000 sq ft Centretown Ottawa location.

This shot was done for one of our commercial clients as PR for an upcoming TV show. Commanding the attention of execs who have a high premium on their
time is all part of the process and our favorite specialty. We shoot on location with a fully portable studio as well as at our Gladstone Street studio.

Why anyone would want to send their boss on a mission to the suburbs wasting gas and the execs time and having them do a shoot in a makeshift “studio” is beyond my comprehension, but as
they say….let the buyer beware.

A great portrait is worth hundreds of times its price.  Over the life of a Real Estate agent, Consultant, Author or a Lawyers portrait they would have invested tens of thousands of
dollars in printing, online and distribution fees for that one image and have generated hundreds of thousand of dollars based in part of the public`s perception of that image.

In todays world of social media and online imaging it is simply bad business to have a less than fantastic portrait.

Fun with Photoshop.

It`s the time of the year when we get to go through last years weddings and post some of our faves. Here is one
we worked on today. Thanks to all my FB friends who critiqued some variations and helped me figure out what to do with this shot.

Choosing a wedding photographer…

Here is one big tip to help you choose the photographer to record your wedding day.

Check out one or more whole wedding coverages!

Its easy to pull out the best 20 shots from a couple of summers of shooting weddings and throw together a site, but what separates the pros from the herd is the ability to get the shot…and in fact to get the shot again and again.  Equipment plays a part, but there is no substitute for experience and talent. When you get round to comparing, ask to see a number of full on coverages.

Ottawa Winter Wedding @ -25

Happy Valentines Day…. We shot this Winter Wedding just two days ago and it was officially our coldest outdoor
photography of a wedding. The bride and groom were from Washington DC and were real troopers when it came to following their dreams to do an outdoor shoot in our Canadian weather. How cold was it…the bride`s bouquet crytallized and my tripod legs froze solid.
Oh…and yes, that really is a kilt at minus 25!

Ottawa Glamour Shot

This is a creative project I shot for a local makeup artist.  It was my first time trying this technique and I have to say that we had a blast shooting it. One thing for certain though, I have even more respect for folks who do great video now that I have seen the amount of work needed to get it right.

Women of the North….

We created a cover spread for Ottawa Life`s Women of the North issue and this was my take on the Eldest and the Youngest of these women. Two artists, one who I had the pleasure of first meeting years ago in Cape Dorset on a Time Magazine shoot, the second an up and coming chanteuse.  Elisapie Isaak was quite the trooper…singing at the Nac that evg with the flu. Kenoujuak was photographed for the cover holding a screen print I had purchased from her on a trip to Cape Dorset.
