Homes and Land

It was nice to shoot something a little different for this Ottawa Homes and land cover.

Watson-O’Brien

I have photographed a lot of politicians….in fact, every PM from Trudeau to Harper and every Mayor from Dewar to O’Brien. The current Ottawa contest is a great one and I think the debate between these two is fantastic. I think this is probably the most critical election in the history of Ottawa. Despite all the rhetoric , both these men have done a lot for the city of Ottawa…may the best man win.

Lets all get out there and vote…

National Gallery/Shirley Thompson.

This week I was honored that my work was chosen by the National Gallery of Canada to be the portrait representing the late Shirley Thompson, former Head of the NGC in the Gallery’s retrospective of her just released in November. I did this shot over a quarter century ago….

Ottawa studio rental.

Every month or so we rent the studio out . Rentals have included the Rolling Stones, Brian Adams,Flare and the Dove Real Women campaign. It`s nice having a large central studio….how else would I get to hang out with Kiss and DJ for Adams… Here is a snap from the Streets of Love shoot for the Stones.

Good luck boys….

Today is the start of an amazing rescue attempt in South America. I dug up this shot of myself and my assistant at the bottom of the deepest mine in Canada.
Miners are an amazing group of people. I spent time two kilometres underground a couple of years ago shooting for Time and I will always have fond memories of the adventure and the great gang of people I met. Bonne Chance!

Saving money by spending money.

Some gigs I quote without an assistant, but most shoots we quote with an assistant.
Why… its simple math. My rate is substantially higher than my assistants rate and it
simply is not good business sense for my clients to pay me to setup lighting, run wires, move
furniture, sweet talk kids, powder noses and corral errant dogs.

We recently did a shoot in half a day that would have taken a sole photographer a
whole days rate. http://www.fastforwardfrench.com/

Assistants quite simply save YOU money…
