Abby Hagyard, Ottawa Actress.

Shooting models, actors and and theatre folks is a lot of fun. They can be more demanding, since they have definite ideas on how they want to represent themselves. That’s OK with me.

Abby has been on the theatre scene since “You Can’t Do That on Television” with Alanis Morrissette, Les Lye and Bill Luxton. A shoot with Abby is a riot…one funny lady!

Rock on…

Shooting rock bands, classical musicians, folksingers, lounge singers, comedians, groups, and soloists is the “cool” part of the biz. In the eighties I think I shot pretty well every major band in town. We have rented the studio to Brian Adams for a photo shoot and to the Rolling Stones for a video. Way back I did the official photography for the Bowie tour and for Rod Stewart’s Production company. Oddly enough, I chatted with Alanis Morissette in my studio and didn’t even take a snap of her… Gene Simmons and Shannon…well, thats another story.

These days you need a very strong image to make it as a musician whatever your style may be.
It’s an investment that entertainers are generally not very serious about…at the expense of their own career. It seems most spend more on their monthly cell phone bills that their promo…oh well.

Here is a link to some of the rest of this recent shoot… http://www.musicalprayers.ca/
FYI, my own tastes lean to John Legend, Peter Gabriel, Alanis and Annie Lennox.

Ottawa Bar Mitzvah

A Bar Mitzvah is fun…but for twins…as they say, double the fun. These coverages require both the ability to create classic portraits as well as capture all the fun of the party in photojournalism style coverage.

Enjoy the party…

Ottawa Photo Restoration

Photo restoration can be a rewarding process. Whether it involves saving a treasured memory or helping out a bride whose photographer doesn`t want to create an album, we really enjoy the challenge. You know, the first thing most people grab when their house is on fire is their photo album…not their computer. Long live prints!!!

Haiti Gala.

The media seems to now have shifted their focus to the Gulf and rightly so, but Haiti is a disaster that just keeps on killing people. I am posting this image from the Gala at the Nac where we raised in excess of $125K for Care Canada. Keep up the good work Care.

Snack time.

This is an interior spread for a local magazine called Healthwise. They wanted me to illustrate
healthy late night snacking with a few local personalities.

Anyone for shuffleboard???

We were asked to create a brochure showing the features of a local retirement residence.
The gentleman playing the piano was incredible…the shuffleboarders, well, lets say they tried.

A bit of a different ad…

We decided to get a little arty with our newest magazine ad. We create them all in house and frankly, I enjoy it quite a lot. For those who have emailed to ask…yes, we create all our own website and ad work . You can pay for a cookie cutter site from a range of suppliers
but we like to be innovators in both our work and our ads. In today’s world you need both artistic
style and technical know how to succeed in business…especially photography.
