Ottawa Bar Mitzvah

A Bar Mitzvah can be as elaborate as a wedding. It is a chance to capture portraits and
cover the events of the party and the details of the decor and food.

We have worked in the Jewish community for over 30 years and its nice to see the children of our original wave of weddings having a Mitzvah.

Capital Style Magazine Cover/Margaret Trudeau

Margaret Trudeau is a Canadian icon. She has had her share of fame, controversy and tragedy. Through it all, her aura still shines bright and she still enthralls and intrigues us.
I shot this cover as part of a feature on Watercan, her signature charity which supports the
creation of fresh water wells in Africa .
Some suggested the water droplets inferred rain…I was thinking more along the line of tears.

Commercial Product and Food Photography Ottawa

Making food look good is tougher than it seems. Lighting, layout plus all the little tricks of the trade need to come together to bring a shoot in on time and on budget.

Take a look at the Products category on my main page for more food shots…

On location for National Defence

Seems simple…photograph a fleet of National Defence trucks for a major US ad agency. We spent almost as much time coordinating the fleet, scouting locations, dodging weather and cleaning up the trucks as we did shooting.

It sure was fun shooting the trucks I used to play with in my sandbox once my sandbox and my trucks got BIG.

Architectural Photography Awards

We stopped entering awards shows about five years ago. I had worked my way up from ten years of winning Ottawa Photographer of the Year, to three years of Ontario Photographer of the Year and finally Canadian Photographer of the Year. Enough was enough.

Now I take great pride in hearing about our clients winning awards since that’s really what it’s all about. Recently Homes and Land Magazine of Ottawa informed me that they had won the 2009 Canadian cover of the year, besting over 260 National magazine covers. Congrats guys.

Verisign Approved!!!

You’ll see a Verisign logo if you search me on Google as of now. They awarded the certification to me…didn`t even apply. Seems that being in biz for 30 years and having a web site for…believe it or not 15 years and a AAA Better Business Bureau rating does carry some weight.

Ok…now it means you can all send me money online without any worries…I`ll be waiting by the
mailbox tomorrow…lol.

Editorial shoot of an Ottawa entertainer.

This is the current cover of Ottawa Life we shot of local songstress Sarah Hallman. For some reason we are swamped with outdoor shoots this winter. Art direction, clothing consultation, site scouting….all done by lil ole me. In photography, things rarely just come together.

Thanks for being a good sport Sarah…
